- Watch the clip in the digital issue of the “I Have a Dream” speech. Talk about Dr. King’s dream for the world: that everyone would be treated fairly.
- Discuss dreams children might have for the world, for instance, that every child would have toys or that everyone would get along.
- Then pass out the bonus I Have a Dream skill sheets. Have kids write or dictate their dream and draw a picture.

Materials: colored construction paper, scissors, glue
- Reinforce the concepts of diversity and unity with a colorful wreath.
- Give each child a different color sheet of construction paper and help each child trace and cut out their handprint.
- Arrange the paper handprints in a circle, fingers pointing outward. Overlap the handprints slightly and glue together to form a wreath.
- Discuss how every person’s handprint is different but together, they create a beautiful work of art!
