Hands-on Activity: Building With Sand

Skill: engineering design

Materials: sand or paper and crayons

  • If you have a sand table or sandbox, let kids take turns working in pairs to build something with damp sand. It can be a sandcastle or any structure or sculpture they like! You can take pictures of each creation and post them on a bulletin board.
  • If you don’t have access to sand, have children draw something they would like to create with sand and write a sentence describing it.
