• Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most powerful speakers in American history. This book brings his words to life for children.

• Watch the clip in the digital issue of the “Tengo un sueño” speech. Talk about Dr. King’s dream for the world: that everyone would be treated fairly.
• Discuss dreams children might have for the world, for instance, that every child would have toys or that everyone would get along.
• Then pass out the bonus "Tengo un sueño” skill sheets. Have kids write or dictate their dream and draw a picture.

• Work together to find and circle the letter k each time it appears in the issue.

Skill: fine-motor

Materials: colored construction paper, scissors, glue

• Reinforce the concepts of diversity and unity with a colorful wreath.
• Give each child a different color sheet of construction paper and help each child trace and cut out their handprint.
• Arrange the paper handprints in a circle, fingers pointing outward. Overlap the handprints slightly and glue together to form a wreath.
• Discuss how every person’s handprint is different but together, they create a beautiful work of art!
