Hands-on Activity: ¡Estás en el billete!

Skill: writing and drawing

Materials: ¡Estás en el billete! skill sheet, pencils, crayons

  • Pass around a one-dollar bill and a five-dollar bill. Point out that George’s face is on the one-dollar bill, and Abe’s is on the five-dollar bill. Why? They were very important people—and great presidents!
  • Now tell kids they can put their own faces on a dollar bill, because they are also very important people—and they might grow up to be president too!
  • Give each child a copy of the skill sheet along with crayons, and have children draw their own face in the center of the bill. They can color the rest of the bill green if they like.
  • Beneath their dollar bill, have kids finish the sentence to tell why they would be a great president. Place children’s work on a bulletin board or wall for an inspiring display of all the great future leaders in your classroom!
