  • A possum and his friends are afraid of the night animals they hear in the dark . . .  until they realize they are the night animals!

  • Start a nocturnal word wall! Come up with night-themed words, like oscuridad, miedo, estrellas, luna, mapache, aullido, dormir, and so on.
  • When you have plenty of words, use them to make a spooky story!

Hands-on Activity: Arte de animales nocturnos

Skill: art, apply knowledge

Materials: black construction paper, gray or yellow construction paper, twigs, googly eyes, silver glitter paint or glitter glue (optional)

  • This project is quick and easy and makes for a great display and discussion starter! Give each child a sheet of black construction paper. Kids can paint a thin layer of silver glitter paint or glitter glue for a twinkling stars effect.
  • Have kids glue a gray or yellow circle near the top for a moon, and glue twigs on the paper for trees. Now they have a nighttime forest!
  • Finally, have kids glue pairs of googly eyes in different spots on the paper. When finished, display kids’ work and talk about who is hiding in the forest! ¿A qué animales nocturnos podr.an pertenecer estos ojos?
