• On page 7 of the mini book, kids learn that “¡En primavera hay lombrices!” Read this fun picture book about the adventures of a worm during spring.

• Make pine cone bird feeders to attract birds! Wrap some string tightly around the top of a pinecone. Spread a good amount of peanut butter over the pine cone and between the crevices.
• Roll the pine cone in some birdseed until it is well covered. Hang the bird feeder from a tree or wherever you like. Let kids observe the birds it attracts!

Skill: observation and recording

Materials: Los pájaros en primavera skill sheet, pencils, crayons

• Invite kids to observe birds outside or inside from a window. Pass out the skill sheet and invite kids to choose one bird and record their observations.
• Kids can use drawing, writing, or a combination of both to record the type of weather and what their bird was doing.
• Hang on to the skill sheets and do the activity again in a different kind of weather, having kids fill in the next row of the chart.
• Try doing the activity a few times. Then compare what the birds were doing in different types of weather.
