Scavenger Hunt: tildes

  • Find and circle the word murciélago (or murciélagos) and each word with an accent mark or tilde.

  • Play this game in small groups. Print out the skill sheet and give children a number cube. Let children take turns rolling the cube and following the directions.

Hands-on Activity: Murciélagos con tilde

Skill: word families

Materials: ¡Murciélago tiene tilde! skill sheet, scissors

  • Take advantage of the bat theme to explore words with accent marks! Cut out the bats on the skill sheets. Then draw a large cave shape and mount it on a bulletin board.
  • Place the bats in a paper bag and tell children that only bats with words with accent marks, tildes, are allowed in the bat cave!
  • Let children take turns picking a bat from the bag and attaching it inside or outside the cave according to whether they have an accent mark.
