Word Hunt: la o el

  • Circle the words la or el on each page. What are they for?
  • The names of things, called nouns, in Spanish are either feminine or masculine.
  • You use la in front of feminine nouns, and el  in front of masculine nouns.
  • Ask students if they can tell if a word is feminine or masculine.

Skill: observe and record

Materials: ¡Vi un animalito! skill sheet, pencils, crayons, clipboards

  • Give each child a skill sheet, clipboard, and pencil. Then go outdoors to spot some backyard critters! Kids can look for worms, ladybugs, or any other critters in your area.
  • When children find a critter, have them fill out the sheet. Back indoors, they can color it in, add details, and share their work.
